Pregnant Call Center Applicant's Issue Again

by Call Center Gal on December 5, 2009

The Concern

I just approved a question from Cecile, a call center applicant from Sitel. She also had some inquiries related to pregnancy and call center application, just like others who have emailed me inquiring about this issue.

The Reason

That is the reason for the medical examination in the first place. The pre-employment medical checkup will determine whether the call center applicant is fit for work. In the case of applicant being pregnant (as per the result of the said exam), the applicant is usually advised to re-apply after a number of months.

Please don’t quote me on this, but it also happened to my former colleague who applied in another international call center a year ago. When the same findings were found on her medical examination, she was advised to re-apply months after giving birth because the supposed to be employer told her that she might not complete the training due to her condition.

If anyone of you experienced this once or know someone who went through the same thing, feel free to comment so we can check some other possible reasons for not letting a pregnant applicant continue her call center application.

Hi Cheska,

Congratulations on your newest baby blessing! :)

I hope that this won’t be an issue for you to continue working for a call center. Personally, I find that pregnant call center applicants may be challenged in getting hired for the post because of health concerns. But for regular employees who got pregnant, this can be less of a concern, although they have to take a maternity leave months before giving birth.

Please give us an update if you can! :) Best of luck on your call center application.
