My boyfriend commented that for the first time he saw job openings being advertised on light posts. He said that because as he was driving down the stretch of Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati City, he couldn’t avoid noticing the tarpaulin banners hanging down the light posts announcing the various job openings in certain call center companies.
Could it be that there the competition to hire call center employees are getting stiffer as these companies are even resorting to these mainstream advertisements?
In the call center that I work, each day the lobby is filled with job seekers so I don’t think that there is a shortage of people who want to get into this industry. But the reality is not all of them are hired because not all of them have the chops to be call center workers. It’s not merely a matter of picking up the phone and talking to customers. Customer service is more than that.
What call centers have to do is to conduct more trainings so there will be more people who will be able to work.
