Too Much Caffeine

Do work the night shift? If yes, are you like the countless thousands of people out there who rely too much on caffeine to help them stay awake all night long?

I was like that years ago until I realized that I am not getting quality sleep anymore. Now there’s a difference between simply sleeping and having quality sleep. It is not enough that you sleep for at least eight hours a day. The important thing is that you can sleep soundly and that when you wake up you feel refreshed and re-energized.

Sadly, a lot of people are not getting this kind of sleep. Yes, they can sleep for hours but they still feel tired when they wake up. I have read in a magazine that drinking too much caffeine might have a part on it.

When you take in caffeine you can stay alert for the night, but when it is time to sleep, sometimes it is also the time that the effects of the caffeine start to wear off. What happens next is that you get restless in your sleep or that you don’t get any sleep at all because you feel very uncomfortable and irritated.

That happened to me before so now I have stopped taking caffeine, unless for breakfast which I also don’t do very often.
