Sharing: Some Call Center Agent's Opinion on Voting Registration

by admin on September 24, 2009

Do call center employees care about the coming National Elections? You bet. But will they go out on that day and vote? That’s when they are not sure of.

In the first place, a lot of call center workers find it challenging to go out and register. One agent even told me that her shifting schedule won’t allow her to ink her participation in the coming elections. Such a hassle for her to wait for hours on queue while she could have used it to just rest and sleep instead.

Another is the lack of necessary papers and identification to present prior to registration. This is true especially on the case of some call center agents who just came here to work. All the needed papers were in their respective provinces and they cannot seem to find time to go back home to get all those documents. And they just can’t afford to go on leave because they don’t have vacation leaves yet.

I believe that the government should look into this issue as soon as possible. A lot of voters will also be coming from BPO industry. They can just set up some mobile registration units to big call center companies to help these voters register right away. It can also be a way for the government to show some support to an industry that contributed greatly to the country’s economy. What do you think? :)

agree! very well said. In my case I haven’t miss an election since I started voting a few years ago (few years….right!) I make it a point to take a vacation during elections. In that way I can do my civic duty to the country. And besides I think this comping elections will be an exciting one.
