If you have any kind of collection (toys, porcelains, figurines, pictures, etc.) you know that stands and mounts can help you properly display all of them. And also you can showcase your collection in a more attractive manner.
Just think about it. If you have a visitor to your home, you will of course be excited to show her your special collection. Now if you just keep your things in a cabinet or drawer, it is very much of a hassle to bring them out one by one to show to your friend. But when these items are properly displayed, and in any corner in your house, your visitor can comfortably marvel at your collection.
While I don’t have a collection of my mine, my future husband plans to have one. He said he would like to collect miniature cars and display them in the house. Now that’s something that needs to be included in the plans of our house’s interior.

Sigh. Once upon a time, I had pieces from my collection of lighthouses scattered decoratively around the house (window sills, side tables, the top of the toilet tank, etc). Now, with a lively almost 3-yr-old, they would only be safe in a locked up knickknack cabinet (or maybe not even), something I didn’t really want, but perhaps it’s time for a compromise.
