Fire Drill in Call Centers

by Call Center Gal on June 6, 2009

I have been employed in a number of call centers and since then, I experienced participating in some fire drill activities.

I don’t know with other companies but call centers are really proactive in educating their employees on some precautionary measures to do if such events occur.

This is how it goes. It usually starts with a company announcement to inform everyone about it. Next is to register for the drill, because some departments are exempted from participating like operations and security.

Online learning usually follows about that to inform them about the steps to be followed. This is where I learned how to really check for each signs in the building like some floor plans and exit signs with exit lighting to lead you through the exit door of each floor. This is also where I have seen a demonstration on how to use the fire extinguisher to help put off the fire.

Before, I do not really participate in these activities but since I became more aware of my safety as an employee, I need to know all these things.

How about you? Have you participated in a fire drill? How was the experience?
