Memorial Day for Call Center Workers

by Call Center Gal on May 24, 2009

I will have to go to work tomorrow.

But not for some call center agents.

As US celebrates Memorial Day, some call center agents were given the option to have that equivalent day here in the Philippines as their additional rest day. I just ended a phone call with a former colleague and he told me that he already filed for some days for his vacation leave along with the extra rest day brought about by the US holiday.

But there are some accounts that would probably take business as usual like banking, telecommunications and technical support since a lot of their North American customers would still call them for some immediate concerns.

For Americans, may you make the most out of this special day. And if there’s anything that you need assistance for, we (call center workers) are just a phone call away. :)

i was starting to wonder why i didn’t have calls today, and your post reminded me that yeah,it’s memorial day in the US. everyone there seems to be taking their time off to honor their veterans.

Another perks from working for a US client, you get to enjoy the holidays for both countries. =)

I too will be working the Holiday, with ChaCha. I work most days, at least part of the day.

I had off for my work at home call center job, but they did not pay us for it. Come to find out when I went to log in this morning, my landline phone was making a loud buzzing noise and a lot of static. I could not work today either. I am still waiting for the phone company to repair it. I hate loosing money.

isn’t it nice when you have double holidays? or when you report for work yet the load is not touch since there are few calls? oh, it was a holiday yesterday, but sadly, i was tied with so many assignments to do :(

Yeap, Memorial day and I took the chance to catch up on my school work. Since this school year is about to end, there are deadlines here and there. Anyway, am always grateful for long weekends!

My rest day for this period fell on Memorial day.

I’m not sure about this but I feel that there are more local non-working holidays compared to the U.S.

Because of this I took advantage of Memorial Day. I just relaxed at home, played games, watched a couple of videos and slept for 9 hours (which is something I haven’t done in a long time).

I took the opportunity to spend time with my family in Baguio. Three days straight of no work. The gods of call centers smile upon us once in a while. :)

Anyway, can I please ask for xlink? thanks.
