How to Benefit in a Call Center Sales Training

by Call Center Gal on April 30, 2009

Do you want to earn extra cash incentives and work in the call center at the same time? Why not try to be a call center sales agent?

You don’t need to worry because you will not plunge in right away and make sales calls, as you will be given time to attend a sales training to polish your selling skills.

What you will learn in a Sales Training

In a sales training, you will realize that you don’t need to make high promises (to the customers) to make a sale. That’s one of the mistakes a lot of sales agents make, be it in a call center or not. Believe me, your customers can easily feel it at the onset of your offer, and that can lessen the chances of you closing a sale.

With that said, here are the tips on how you can make the most out of your sales training:

Know your product / service

Knowledge is king in selling. Sales pitch is nothing when you are not making sense at all. You cannot just guess the details of how this product will work or how a service can meet their immediate needs. So it is very important to know more about what you are offering them.

Study your target market

What is the division of your target market? Are you going to talk to the decision makers or to the ones who can highly influence these folks?

Listen to how you sound on the phone

It is not what you say, but how you say it. Have you heard of this line before? This holds true especially when you are selling over the phone. They cannot look at you straight in the eye, just to check if you are telling the truth when you deliver that sales pitch.

Always remember that they will only rely on your voice. Ask yourself. Are you audible enough in telling them everything about the product? Are you giving enough time to pause in between the stated the benefits to drive a point? Do you mean what you say by using the appropriate tone or do you just let them listen to a ‘dead sales pitch’?

Get some documented feedback to evaluate your performance

In Sales Training, you will also get a chance to undergo a call simulation. That’s the perfect time to take advantage of you getting an immediate feedback from your trainer.

Make sure to note down the specific feedback that will be given to you. Highlight the areas of opportunity (this will always be part of a call simulation’s feedback) so you can improve on it, even before you start selling on the phone.

So these are the things that you can benefit from when you attend a Call Center Sales Training. Again if you want to polish your selling skills and work in a call center, I would recommend for you to attend one.

Please share your experience here if you’ve already attended one. Also, let us know some of your related tips so a lot of would be / veteran call center sales agents can benefit from it.

Good tips. I agree that is important not only to know about the product you are selling, but also to be aware of how you are selling the product in regards to tone of voice and attitude. With all training, maintenance of the skills learned and sustainability of the training in essential. Do you have any suggestions regarding how to achieve this?

You Have a point, you can’t just make a sale as a call center sales agent if you don’t know your product or if you don’t know what you are selling, that is why it is very important to know your product, to know what you are selling, so that you can communicate well to your customers.

Thanks.
