Let’s take a break from some of my usual call center posts. Today I will share with you some of random thing about me, being a call center gal.
This is our initial fun project in our Blogging for Fun yahoogroups (sorry if I posted this late fellow BFF bloggers).
1. I am a graduate of Communication Arts, so inspired with the course that I finished I planned to be a news reporter, broadcaster, disc jockey and a creative consultant (for TV and Radio ads), but I ended up with a career in BPO / Call Center Training and Development (with no regrets of course).
2. When I want to relax and I have the luxury of time, I take a bus with no specific place to go, I let my feet take me wherever (in a safe, public place though). Sometimes, I just ride a bus and pay for a round trip fare.
3. I spend some days without the tech chain. So meaning there are days when I do not bring my phones and my ipod. I also refrain from going online. That is to break monotony being tied to these tech stuff almost everyday. ![]()
4. There are times when I go to decent videoke places to belt out my passion for singing (alone) especially when I just visited the place for the first time (within the Philippines). That’s aside from looking for landmarks in those places of course.
5. Now that I shared some of my stress busting secrets, I will go back to another trivia that’s related to my work in the call center. I hardly memorize the names of my trainees after their training. Believe me, after handling a lot of classes, with over a thousand trainees to date, it is indeed challenging to remember all their names. But I can easily remember their faces so I never forget to smile at them and say “hi” whenever I see them almost everywhere here in the metro.
How about your turn now?
Leave your ‘five things’ trivia on the comments section of this post.
Have a great day!

Is videoke the same thing as karaoke? I like to do karaoke about once a month. It is relaxing and lots of fun. Of course I am not very good at it and I have never gone out in public to do it. At least not yet.
Ok here goes:
1 I attended UST for 1 semester, then transfered to UE-Kalookan. I studied Marketing
)
)
But I haven’t tried riding a bus round trip. But there’s a thought!
2. I worked in the call center since way back 1999. where the accounts are all local and you have to dial the phone number manually. (Imagine doing that for 8 hours a day
3. I love Movies, when I was in College I watch a movie every day. As in! Any Movie will do.
4. I’m totally crazy about my son Joaquin. I never fail to tell him that I love him every single day. (corny no? but that’s me.
5. I love going out with no particular place to go. Just like you Nhil.
i am like you with number 2, i love riding trains and buses that when i have the luxury of time, sometimes, i just hop in and let them take me anywhere and i am having a time of my life
“decent videoke places” – LOL! Sorry, I’ve just thought of the ‘indecent’ ones.
I think being a reporter would be a cool job. I love the train, but I must admit it is not much fun with small children.
I am impressed that you are able to remember the faces of all those people who have been through your classes. I have so much trouble remembering people. I may have someone who looks familiar, but I wont be able to tell from where.
Hi! Thanks for comments…i guess i am so into my role as a mother, a wife and a call center mom that i forget about simple things that i can do to take off the stress from taking on all of these roles. A ride without any particular destination should be nice…hmmmm…and i have thought of just leaving my cellphone behind and not thinking about going on-line at least for a day. However, since I have kids I have to monitor even when I am out I would rather have my cellphone all the time (we don’t have a landline yet). I am able to remember faces just like you. Even the one who got my wallet from 15 years ago I would still remember though am not good at names. I love videokes!
I can’t go a day without the Internet. Sometimes I wonder what I did before the Internet. I guess I just went without knowing who starred in what movie or finding out more about my favorite actor.
Call centers are indeed stressful. How I relieve my stress is by sleeping all day long when I am on a weekly-off or, going on a long drive. Many a times I prefer browsing the internet or, writing a few posts to my blogs.
Regarding your number 2.. Rather than use public transport, I tend to jump into my car and just drive with the music on, in my own little world
