Earth Hour for Call Centers

by admin on March 27, 2009

What do you know about Earth Hour?

I asked this because it is only now that I am hear it in the news, although I already heard of this campaign since last week. My mom got curious since our neighbors are talking about it, so I checked for more information about it online.

According to the website, you can use your switch as your vote for Earth. That’s very easy to do right? :) On the other hand, leaving your lights on will mean that you are pro-global warming. :( I got this additional information from earthhour.org:

WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.

That’s enough for my mom to understand that this is just not another senseless hype online. A minute ago, she just said yes to it, meaning she will close the store for an hour tomorrow night to switch the lights off. hope our neighbors will do the same. :)

On the other hand, I also hope that call centers here in the Philippines will do their share. Imagine how much energy these call centers will save if they’ll decide to switch off the lights in some areas who doesn’t have much coverage. :)

From what I know, Aegis Peoplesupport is one. I’d have yet to find out from the rest of my call center friends later. :)

My friend who is working at Aegis PeopleSupport (it feels weird calling it Aegis)said that they did participate. They shut down the lights and that it was kinda eerie because the only lights are those coming from their computer screens.

Can I apply online for this job as a call center agent? I’m living in Samar and it’s a long ride to Tacloban city, i just want to save time and money as well. As of now I’m working here but think i can get big salary than what i am receiving now..And I want to practice more about speaking language.
Thank you!
