Pregnant Call Center Applicant

If you’re new here, you might want to subscribe via email or rss to receive updates from my call center blog. Thanks :)

Yesterday, I received an email from Sher of Cebu. She has this concern over her call center application that I would like to share with you. Please note that I already sent her a reply via email but I informed her of including this topic in Call Center Gal.

Here’s the email message she sent me regarding her concern

I really dream of working in a call center, in fact, I attended a Call Center Training Program and fortunately I passed the assessment. I am very much sincere and determined getting in w/ one of the call centers here in Cebu . Lately, I found out that I am pregnant.Do I still have a chance to be hired if I still continue to apply? Please advice me, I am really interested and I don’t want my effort in attending the training every Sunday and paying the training fee would come out for nothing. Thanks.

Thanks for your email and Congratulations for having a baby soon!

I consulted this with some of my friends who work in Call Center Recruitment.

According to them, you will get a higher chance of getting the job (in the call center) if you will apply for a non-agent position.

Most of the employers are discouraged to hire pregnant women because of health reasons ( because graveyard shift, physical, emotional and mental stress ).

But if you are qualified in any of the non-agent positions, like Admin and Corporate ones, then try to apply for those posts first. If you really wanted to work in Operations (as a call center agent) then you can apply for a department transfer as soon as you’re back from your maternity leave.

On the other hand, my personal suggestion though is for you to look for some online work at home jobs instead while you’re expecting and then go back to a corporate job as soon as you got off your maternity leave.

Got a question about call center life? Callcentergal might help. :) Feel free to send an email at callcentergal@yahoo.com and/or callcentergal@gmail.com

Nice one Ma’am! She can also try one of those home based call center jobs. If there’s still available.

Hi, if she wants, I know someone who is looking for a part-time homebased work. I can recommend her to them, she just needs a pc and an internet connection and if she can still work night shifts. These people are serious in hiring and they pay for the hours you worked. You can share my email address to her and I will endorse her resume to these people.

I will. Thanks for the help Riza. :)

Aside from that, you can also share the contact details here so we can help you get interested parties for the online job. :)
