APAC Tacloban Opens on March 2

by Call Center Gal on February 3, 2009

I started watching APAC Tacloban‘s progress since I’ve read in the news that they’re going to set up a call center facility in Leyte.

I’m not from the place, but it really excites me that they’re now starting to tap key provinces in the Philippines to work for those international call centers.

Time flies so fast because after my first post about this months ago, now they’re training these qualified agents before they take calls on March 2.

And no less than the President herself and APAC’s head honcho’s will show them support according to Doug Almond, APAC vice-president for international operations.

Congratulations to the call center employees who made it there in APAC Tacloban.:)

I think that it’s very smart to set up in the province, no other call centers there to compete with for hiring agent

Hi Beau,

That’s right. :) Most of the call centers nowadays are tapping talents from the provinces. More cost efficient too, in terms of wages. :)

It’s a pity that GOV. CARLOS JERICHO “ICOT” PETILLA made request with APAC not to accommodate for employment employees of the provincial government and at the same time announcing that there will be no movement for casual employees to be permanent.

What is he thinking? I thought he was that bright being Ateneo educated. He should of instead encouraged qualified provincial employees to take the opportunity of a better employment.

This is good news. This is an opportunity for the people in Leyte. People from this region usually goes to Manila to be able get work in BPO companies. Bringing work to them instead makes a difference not only financially, but also to their families whom they won’t need to leave.

well, establishing a call center company in tacloban is really a very nice idea made by the government officials. first is to provide good quality employment to the people. this would also help them not just to be good agents but better & more confident persons as well. hoping to be part of the company someday. i want to impart my call center experience to my co-waraynons.

Good intentions are always welcome. :) Spread the real call center experience with the Waraynons!

Im working in a callcenter in cebu. I was very glad that at last a callcenter company will open in my hometown. But what discourages me is, APAC is i I THINK controlled by the POLITICIANS AGAIN.

I wanted to go home and work there. But kinda hesitant to go home due to fact that polictics is very strong in our place. LETS FORGET ABOUT SO MUCH POLITICS AND POPULARITY and start thinking of the WARAYNONS who is working in cebu and not the land of the waray-warays.

I would say that 70% of the callcenter agents here in cebu is from leyte. Please make our hometown a nice place to work with…

Its nice to note that opportunities are being stretched out farther the outskirts of manila, its time to lead way to progress and give chance specially to people who are far from manila, and its also an opportunity for their local NGO’s to organize training for them
