500 workers will now bade Accenture RP goodbye.
This might not be the first news to hit the Philippines regarding letting go of some employees but hey, it still affects a lot of call center / BPO workers (specifically their outsourced technology services unit) so I’m posting this here.
According to the source (Philippine Daily Inquirer), the Accenture RP BPO lay offs are happening due to a redundancy program that the company is implementing.
If you’re applying for a position in Accenture RP, you don’t need to worry because their centers will still continue to hire talents with different skill sets to meet client demand.
So this is not a bad news guys, with a lot of call centers / BPO around the place, these 500 workers will surely find their new ‘home’ in no time. Think positive!

Correction!!!!
Accenture redundancy program was implemented to IT SOLUTION WORKFORCE only, not BPO.

Hi Jenny Uy,
Thanks for the clarification.
Are you from Accenture?
This is a bad news what ever way you looked at it… Layoff targets Accenture/Tech/Solutions Bench only…
Past few days are hard for us… seeing our friends leave the company… this crisis sucks
The casualty of Accenture redundancy program were those from IT Solution workforce. They invested so much in these people, and now they’re letting them go? What irony.
Hi Unfortunate one,
It happens, let’s just move on. Tomorrow is another day
yes it is a problem.. consider if you are a cobol developer & was included in the redundancy program.. would you immediately shift to a bpo career?? i mean consider the trainings & years of work you already invested in.. it’s not that easy.. These are 2 very different work.. I am not even sure if the pay is the same..

Hi Snyper,
I’m sorry to hear that. Hang on, Snyper, this trying time will pass.
my friend was unfortunately one of the accenture employees that were laid off.
shanes last blog post..don’t say goodbye, say goodnight
I am working for Accenture and I understand that the company is really going on a difficult situation right now.
I know that as much as possible ayaw nila gawin ang redundancy program but they did because they had to.
i heard from a friend (employee of Acenture) that most of those impacted are not very good performers, kaya daw sila walang project is because walang may gusto sa kanila, kaya daw pati yata doon sa Area nila, may mga power trippers pa rin daw especially yung binigyan ng posisyon na mag coordinate ng kung ano ano
Some of employee na nasama sa redundancy program is not because of their performance. Think of this way…my mga manager na hindi nakapagbigay ng performance rate sa kanilang team on time, then na roll-off ang resources ng walang performace rate. And when redundacy came, napasama ang mga resources na good performer but did’nt received the performance rate sa redundancy, coz nakita sa record nila na wala nga silang rate as in zero sa performance site even though nag oot sila at ang iba is night shift pa for some period of months. I Hope because of this experience maging on time and be considerate ang mga project manager na mag bigay ng dapat na rate sa kanilang team members.

Hi Senior Programmer,
If that’s the reason kawawa naman yung mga nawalan ng trabaho. It is everyone’s responsibility to do their jobs well.
Pa-resign na dapat ako noon pa, pinigilan ako ng manager ko at inalok sa isang project sa Europe, nagstay ako dun for 1.5 years and then after that, kinailangan naman ako sa US for 0.5 yr. Then, ayun, nakasama sa mga na-lay-off. Pucha, ano yun?
Luckily, nakakuha naman ako ng work, and fortunate enough na di hamak na mas malaki ang salary and compensation ko sa present job ko. Almost double. TL ako noon sa ACN.

Hi Ex-ACN,
I’m sorry to hear about what happened. Anyway, that was a thing of the past since you already sought the greener pastures around and I really wish you well in your present endeavor.
Thanks for sharing your experience, have a great day!
Ex-ACN, good for you. may trabaho ka na.
Like_a_glove, not all of those terminated were poor performers. Nagkataon lang walang project, either cancelled by the client or in our case, it was turned over to our Indian counterpart (due to client’s cost cutting). Meron ngang nasa project below peer group (lowest) rating.
Kasama rin ako sa mga nalayoff nung Jan and until now wala pa rin akong work. I am a non-IT grad and I had my training and almost 3 years IT experience all with Accenture. IT grad and still jobless.
Hi Peeps,
I was with Accenture last year, and resigned a month before the redundancy program. I wasn’t included sa redundancy program but my exit was like hell…
My project ended December 5 (Friday), and with for delikadesa-sake I submitted my resignation December 8 (Monday). My new employer had been asking me to report earlier (as early as October) but told them to wait for January because I want to finish my project first. Our PM reassigned me to a different team temporarily from Dec 8 – Jan 5. I was working my arse off when all of a sudden (last Dec), I was not able to login to my ACN accounts. I was also shocked when I found out that my Dec 16-31 salary was not credited to my S/A. Per policy wise, If you resign Jan 5, you will still get your Dec 31 pay. I called the HR, and almost everyone was one (Holiday season). 1 HR told me that my HR Rep “RESIGNED ME EFFECTIVE DEC 19″. WTF?!?! Was that forced-resignation? It’s a lot worse than redundancy. I got APG for FY 2007-2008 dude, do I deserve a forced resignation?
Now I went to province (Holiday Season), with no freakin pasalubong, pano walang sweldo eh. I reported my HR Rep to hear Lead and there had been negotiations and arguments. I decided to let this come to pass peacefully, and told them that just give me my damn Dec 31 pay and I’ll set you (HR Rep) free bitch!
They gave me my pay on January 12. A few weeks after. That’s not my backpay by the way, it was my Dec 31 salary that was put to hold because of the bitch. Then a few days after, nagka redundancy program. I told them, pinahirapan nyo ako, magpapaalis rin pala kayo ng tao, pambihira. Yes I literally told them that.
Now as for the redundancy program. It was tough, I got lots of friends who were included in the program. I even got a friend who just gave birth a month prior to the program. They’re all good and high performers. Yet they retained a lot of incompetent idiots. I know one who had been in ACN for 3 years as a Java Developer (SSE na sya) and barely knows how to write a simple java class. I bet my arse she can’t make a hello world servlet. Yet some of my colleagues who were part of the program can make complex Hibernate-enabled JEE applications.
Sad but true… That’s how life is… We should move on.
For the HR Rep who bitched around, we’ll cross our paths, someday. You had your turn, I’ll had mine…
Typos…
