Callcentergal's Survival Pack

by admin on June 23, 2008

Business as usual.

I have a different interpretation of that ‘line’ in the call center industry. It means that no matter what happens, we still need to report to work. No storm, coup d’etat, rally or strike can stop us from taking calls.

I learned through experience that it is wise to have a Survival Pack (that’s right, not a kit), especially if you are working in a call center. It’s not that I don’t want to go home, but I have to prepare in cases that it won’t be possible.

I remembered when typhoon Milenyo hit the Philippines, I spent two nights in the nearest hotel. There were training sessions lined up for that week and I can’t afford to be absent. I can’t go home either because of the flood and no cab will ever dare to take me home. Good thing I have extra money and the pack with me then. I survived almost three days of being away from home with my pack.

Curious about my survival pack? Here is the list of what I had in my big bag that time:

Smart casual clothes (three pairs of stretch slacks, long sleeve blouse, undergarments)
Sleeping Mask
Make up kit
Bath Essentials Kit
Cologne
A pair of extra pumps
A pair of slippers
Two big plastic bags
Mobile phone charger

That was before, I anticipated that it will take me days before I can go back home. Now, I only have a pack good for one more day in the office. I hope that I don’t have to bring as much again next time. But if that is the case, then I certainly know what to include in my pack.

Have you been in a similar situation before? What is inside your survival pack?

Cool tips. Probably a some little difference if it were for a guy – just take out the ‘S’ in undergarments, slacks or pants. LOL. Of course minus the Kikay kits, but, guys lately got their own kikay kits too. :-)
