I usually ride a cab going to work whenever I’m pressed for time. When its dawn and I really feel the need to go home from shift the soonest, I also opt to call for one.
Issues about security and ‘fair’ fare will always be there. But for now, I will share some tips on how you can have a safer taxi ride.
From the (call center) office:
1. Wait for a cab at the drop-off point. Most guards check the trunk of the cabs as well as note the cab details (taxi name and plate number) as well.
2. If there’s no security guard present in the area, ask your trusted co-worker to accompany you while waiting and note the cab details.
3. If there’s neither security guard nor a trusted co-worker present in the area, text the cab details to your co-worker/relative/friend.
4. Do not forget to tell them that you finally reached home, so they can disregard the details afterwards.
On the road to the (call center) office:
1. If you are very particular with the taxi company, you can call the following numbers and wait for their acknowledgment/further instructions.
D’Avis – 0919.742.7717
Basic – 9001447 / 9001448 / 6437777
MGE – 3666287 / 3666214 / 3617851
EMP – 2935930 / 2935931
Dollar – 921-2383
Xavierville – 788-0204
R & E, Nine Stars, Sturdy, EFE and EPE – Tel. No: 360-3568, 330-3268
2. If there’s neither security guard nor a companion present in the area, text the cab details to your co-worker/relative/friend.
3. Do not forget to tell them that you finally reached the office, so they can disregard the details afterwards.
Lastly, make sure to note this contact detail of LTFRB:
LTFRB – 0921-4487777
I already tested that number as I reported some untoward incidents before. They will send you an acknowledgment text and invite you to attend a hearing. Even if you won’t show up, they will still note the details, inform and apprehend the taxi operators so you don’t need to worry.
I hope these tips are helpful enough. But if you have more, feel free to share it with us ok?
Till next post,

I don’t ride the taxi as often as anybody but I’ve had my share of rude and reckless drivers. When I’m with them I just do the Haily Mary. That is, pray!
LOL!!!
On the other hand I’ve also had my share of really nice and courteous cab drivers. When I do encounter these seemingly endangered specie, I happily give an extra tip for their kindness.
It’s not everyday that you get off a cab with a smile, right?
i’m nervous when i take taxi alone, sino namang hindi? hehe… i do the “taxi details texting”, kapag mabait at hindi nag-ask for dagdag, binibigyan ko ng extra pero kung hindi, i pay the exact amount, hahaha…
when we are in pinas at kasama ang aking imported family, we usually take hotel taxis, mahal pero mas safe. otherwise, we use r&e or avis — at itong asawa ko galante kapag ganyan, parating my tip pero asar sya kapag huthot na yung pakinig nya sa iba na over kung manghingi ng dagdag. maganda nga yung ganun na the sekyu takes note of the taxi’s plate number, i noticed that and i applaud that
Sa mga mall dito sa makati meron nyan. maganda nga kasi parang may warning na sa mga drivers na huwag magiging pasaway.
